Scottish IPA

A proper Scots IPA as opposed to west coast style; no assertive American hops. A rich, smoky aroma, a sweet molasses overtone, a hint of oakiness, also a hint of tart fruit and a hint of chocolate, quite complex.
Complexity carries into the body, smoky, woody and sweet with a hint of plum/ raisin. Hops are underneath and on into the finish, not too assertive.
A good example of the India Pale Ales brewed in Britain for transport by sea to India many years ago.
